The Last Apprentice: Revenge of the Witch

Title: Revenge Of The Witch
Series: The Last Apprentice
Author: Joseph Delaney
Rating: 2/5 Stars
Revenge of the Witch is about a Thomas Ward's journey to become a Spook's apprentice. A spook is someone in the profession of ridding the county of evil entities. To become a Spook one must be the seventh son of a seventh son. Which is important, for reasons I have yet to figure out. Maybe I missed it while readying? Anyway, Tom is given a trial period to for the current Spook to test him to see if he is up to the task of being a Spook. During this trial period Tom begins training, one of the Spook's rules is to stay away from girls, specificly girls with pointy shoes. Well, this is one rule that Tom breaks and it gets him to to quite a bit of trouble...
I did end up liking to book but I still only rated the book 2 stars due to how long it took to really get into the thick of things. The first 3/4 of the book is pretty dull. However, after reading the second one I found that the detail Delaney put into describing each character's personality during the first 3/4, really made understanding of characters thought process much more enjoyable. Specifically, Alice (the girl with the pointy shoes), Alice's character development was really interesting because you get to see ( umm, read) her struggle with good and evil, and deciding whether or not she is going to go against her witch aunt.
